About
Semaj Creatives, founded in 2020 in Philadelphia by Semaj Woodson, is rooted in storytelling, representation, and the deep, layered beauty of Black culture and identity. It exists to inspire, to educate, and to hold space for truth-telling through intentional, meaningful design. In my creative direction practice, I oversee every stage of brand and campaign development—concept creation, team scouting, model casting, styling, set design, on-set direction, post-production, rollout, and even aspects of design and manufacturing.

Mission
Semaj Creatives is committed to producing intentional, historically rooted creative work that uplifts Black culture, redefines identity, and sparks meaningful dialogue. By prioritizing collaboration, deep learning, and authentic storytelling, we aim to create experiences and tools that empower individuals and communities to grow, connect, and thrive.
Groundwork
I am currently a student of fashion merchandising and marketing, with hands-on experience in textiles. I’ve studied not only how things are made, but why they matter. My approach is informed by research, cultural context, and an unwavering belief in authenticity.
Before returning to school, I served as the creative director of a studio space in Philadelphia, where I collaborated with fellow creatives, family, and loved ones to build immersive spaces of connection. Together, we curated events that challenged, inspired, and brought people into conversation—with themselves, each other, and the art.
Today, I work closely with both brands and individuals to develop campaigns, strengthen brand identity, and build strategies that connect. Beyond this work, I have also volunteered for two seasons during New York Fashion Week (2025 and 2026), supporting the PR and production teams for LaQuan Smith and Luar.
